A Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, International Tai Chi Champion, and USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame Inductee, Dr. Ng has over 25 years of education, skills training, and hands-on knowledge, including extensive experience designing workplace Tai Chi and Qigong wellness programs for companies in the healthcare, legal, education, hospitality, technology, and banking/finance industries, and beyond.
Why is corporate wellness important?
Stress and pressures in the work environment cost businesses over $250 billion each year in absenteeism (sick days), decreased productivity, low morale, employee turnover, and accidents. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, employee illness and injuries cost employers in the United States at least $225.8 billion annually, and the Milken Institute reported that $1 trillion is lost every year due to unaddressed chronic disease among workers.
Imagine if an hour break dedicated to employee wellness once or twice a week could help to reverse these huge costs. In fact, it can. The American Journal of Health Promotion published a meta-analysis of 56 studies on wellness programs at the office, which showed an average 27% decrease in sick leave absenteeism, 26% decrease in health care costs, and 32% decrease in workers' compensation and disability management cost claims. The University of Michigan further estimated that for every $1 invested into workplace wellness, a company can expect $3 in cost savings or benefits. That is a 300% return on investment. With such favorable margins, it is unfathomable why a company wouldn't want to offer corporate wellness to their employees.

Why choose corporate Tai Chi and Qigong wellness?
Most employees complain of being stressed and over-worked, as their managers continue to demand more productivity from them. These demands further increase stress on employees, which in turn, further decreases their productivity. It can quickly become a lose-lose situation for both parties. As such, it is essential that companies find balance to this by nurturing their employees, teaching them how to relax and stay calm, and promoting their health and well-being through corporate Tai Chi wellness programs.
Tai Chi is a complete mind-body experience that is second to none, and corporate Tai Chi and Qigong classes offer a low-cost innovative solution for any companies looking to alleviate workplace stress, improve worker productivity, reduce healthcare expenses, and promote employee well-being. Even better, with corporate Tai Chi, employees get to stay at work and have the Tai Chi class brought to them!
Taking breaks in the workday with Tai Chi has proven to be one of the most effective ways to help employees manage stress and become more focused and refreshed. Dr. Ng's corporate Tai Chi programs use mini Tai Chi and Qigong flows that are efficient and effective, meeting the needs of the corporate environment. These Tai Chi and Qigong flows takes very little room and can be practiced while seated or standing. As such, they can be done discreetly in an office or cubicle and in a short period of time. Corporate Tai Chi is safe and accessible to individuals of all ages and levels of physical fitness. Each person works to their own limits and improves from there. No experience is required.
The beauty of corporate Tai Chi is that it uses movement and meditation to balance body, mind, and breath. In this way, corporate Tai Chi not only alleviates common aches and pains from hours of typing and sitting at a desk, but it more importantly empowers employees with transformative tools to manage everyday challenges and optimize health and well-being. It gives both mind and body a reset, by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) while soothing the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight). As a result, your employees will enjoy clearer minds with less affliction from stress. They will be able to make better decisions, be more efficient and productive, and have more positive attitudes with their peers.
